This premium film blocks up to 98% of the Infrared heat penetration and 99% of the UV. The ceramic film found in our Xpel Prime XR PLUS product is made with non conductive ceramic particles. These tiny particles are small enough to prevent glare while still blocking infrared beam penetration.

Before Window Tint

The amount of light that passes through the window of an automobile is measured in Visible Light Transmission (VLT). In California, on front windows (driver, passenger and windshield), 70% VLT of light needs to pass through the window. This is true for all sedans, SUVs, vans or trucks. In the rear windows, there are no restrictions and the tint can be as dark as you’d like. If the rear window is tinted, it has to have dual side mirrors. A 4 inch strip of non-reflective tint is allowed on the front windshield, too.

A few factors to consider whether or not you want to stay within the legal limits, night time driving, visibility or style. Here are a handful of different ways to think about the Visible Light Transmission (VLT) for your window tint. 80% (air blue heat-rejection film), 70% (very light), 50% (light shade of tint), 35% (smoke), 20% (dark tint), and 5% (very dark shade of tint). We find 35% is the most popular. The UV Protection is the same across all shades of tint.

There are various reasons as to why tint films begin to bubble up or change colors. This can happen many years after installation. It might be the chemical used in the bottom or a cheaper brand of film. It could also be because the tint was stretched out too much during installation or poor preparation on the window beforehand (eg. contaminants between film and window). Other reasons include film failure, Do-It-Yourself tint kits or films with no UV protection that fade or haze. Whatever the reason, you have peace of mind when with our tints because we provide a lifetime warranty.

There are generally two different ways to handle a ticket in the unfortunate event you find yourself with one. First, there’s a fix-it ticket. This generally means you’re required to remove the tint and prove that it was removed. Alternatively, you can pay the fine (which generally costs more) and skip the time consuming process of back-and-forth with removing your tint, proving it was removed, and possibly re-applying.
